Russia is trying to undermine the effectiveness of the summit in Switzerland with parallel measures, the European Union said.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s efforts to undermine the effectiveness of the planned Peace Summit in Switzerland reflect his fears. This was said by EU Foreign Policy Speaker Peter Stano, reports European reality.

According to him, the European Union fully supports the idea of a peace summit and considers its purpose very important, “because we see here a source of inspiration for the upcoming peace process.”

The EU is actively working with partners around the world to ensure the widest possible representation at the event.

Referring to Russia’s efforts to organize a parallel meeting, he said: “The effort to undermine the effectiveness of the summit in Switzerland with parallel measures only shows how afraid Putin is of the summit.”

Stano noted that for the EU, the summit in Switzerland is a peaceful event of the year, very important for Ukraine, and European politicians continue to work for its success.

We remind you that the international Peace Summit will be held in Switzerland on June 15-16. President Vladimir Zelensky said that 90 countries have already given their consent to participate in the summit.

Earlier, the Office of the President said there was no talk of Russia’s participation in the first Peace Summit, but there is a possibility that its representatives will be at the second summit.

Meanwhile, China and Brazil are promoting an alternative to the Peace Summit with equal participation of all parties. And the media reported that the EU is planning peace negotiations with the participation of Russia. Looks like they can in the fall in Saudi Arabia.
