Since the beginning of May, hundreds of hectares of Ukrainian forests have been destroyed by fire.

The press service of the State Emergency Service reported this today, May 28.
In particular:
- Since the beginning of May, 46 forest fires have broken out in the Limansky district of the Donetsk region, 14 as a result of enemy shelling. The fire destroyed more than 1,000 hectares of forest floor.
- Thus, near the city of Liman, rescuers extinguished a forest litter fire on the territory of the Drobyshevsky forestry – the total fire area was 120 hectares;
- Not far from the village of Sosnovoye, Kramatorsk district, a fire of forest litter with a total area of 40 hectares broke out on the territory of the National Natural Park “Holy Mountains”. Park employees are creating mineralized strips; there is no threat to populated areas;
- in the Kharkov region near Balakleya, specialists from the State Emergency Service extinguished a fire in the forest floor on the territory of the Vysokoborsky forestry. The total area of destroyed forest is 310 hectares.
In total, since the beginning of the year, 15,206 fires have occurred in the ecosystem, with a total area of 11,829.83 hectares, the State Emergency Service notes.
