To cross the border, the men paid the organizer of the illegal scheme from 5,500 to 8,000 euros.
Eight men were detained in the Chernivtsi region for trying to cross the Romanian border illegally. The State Border Service announced this on Tuesday, May 28.
Not far from the Romanian border, border guards stopped a car with nine men inside. The driver of the vehicle tried to flee.
The passengers were residents of Bukovina, Ternopil, Rivne and Lviv regions. They told the border guards that each of them paid the organizer from 5,500 to 8,000 euros to cross the border. Administrative protocols were made against men.
A few hours later, in Chernivtsi, border guards stopped a car driven by an alleged organizer of illegal border crossings. For this he faces from three to five years in prison.
The SUV driven by the men was brought to Ukraine by a foreigner. The car is taken – by court decision it can be given to military units.
Meanwhile, in Kyiv, a 30-year-old woman was exposed who organized an illegal scheme to earn money from men of mobilization age who sought to get a deferment and go abroad.
“The Merchant” offered men the opportunity to get a reprieve from mobilization and cross the border, hiding behind fictitious marriages to girls with many children and women with group I or II disabilities.
He sought out his clients through advertisements on a closed Telegram channel. An “arranged marriage” costs men up to $4,000, depending on disability and number of children. In addition, the list of “matchmaker” services includes advice on crossing the border, how to behave and how to answer questions from border guards.
Law enforcement officials detained the mastermind of the scheme. He was given a report of suspicion of having committed a crime and a preventive measure was chosen in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of more than 180 thousand Hryvnia.

We remind you that the SBU has removed another method for preventing mobilization and illegal travel abroad for men of military age. This time, draft dodgers were sold “consular” certificates.
In Volyn, law enforcement officials exposed a group of people who, for money, removed evaders from the wanted list. Among the defendants are a deputy platoon commander of one of the military units and regional and city officials TCC and SP.
