The United States of America is demanding appropriate explanations from Moscow. Washington stands in solidarity with its partners from the North Atlantic Alliance and the European Union regarding Russia’s actions and its provocations on the border with the Baltics. State Department press secretary Matthew Miller wrote about this on the social network X.
Now Russia is sowing confusion on the NATO/EU borders. We stand in solidarity with our allies in the Baltic and Baltic Sea countries in the face of the latest provocations and call on Russia to explain its actions,” the statement said.
Miller added that the United States is closely monitoring the situation with its allies.
Earlier it was reported that Russia decided to unilaterally change the borders with Lithuania and Finland in the Baltic Sea. Moscow plans to declare part of the water area in the east of the Gulf of Finland, as well as near the cities of Baltiysk and Zelenogradsk in the Kaliningrad region, as its internal sea waters.
And on May 23, Estonia announced that Russian border guards had removed buoys installed on the Estonian half of the Narva River.
Also on the website of the Russian government, a so-called order on the initiative to unilaterally change the border with Lithuania and Finland in the Baltic Sea appeared and then disappeared.
