The district court of the city of Slavyansk of the Donetsk region sentenced a former law enforcement officer who, while drunk, killed his acquaintance. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison. The State Bureau of Investigation reported this on May 24.
It was learned that in May 2022, while on vacation, a confrontation occurred between the defendant and one of the men present at the party. His acquaintance intervened in the fight, trying to separate his comrades. However, the law enforcement officer shot the man in the back with his service weapon.
Under the guise of providing medical aid to calm the crowd, the police put the victim in his car and drove him out of Slavyansk. Without going to the hospital, defendant pulled the man out of the car and shot him multiple times.
The attacker also placed a grenade under the dead body so that it would explode when he tried to move the body.
The next day, he was detained by law enforcement officers. During the investigation before the trial, the Bureau employees obtained the evidence: a service firearm, a bullet and cartridges, as well as a grenade. More than a dozen tests were performed.
The accused did not admit his guilt, but the evidence collected by SBI employees formed the basis for the court’s verdict.
The court found the defendant guilty of premeditated murder and attempted premeditated murder.
