During the US-Ukrainian summit, a number of negotiations on cooperation in the production of weapons are expected.
The American-Ukrainian Freedom Summit will be held in Washington (USA) on June 5-7, one of the main events of which is the defense-industrial conference. This was reported by the National Association of Ukrainian Defense Industries (NAUDI) on Thursday, May 23.
“NAUDI will be co-organizer of the first annual US-Ukrainian Freedom Summit, which will be held in Washington on June 5-7, 2024. An important part of the summit will be the defense-industrial conference, where NAUDI representatives plan inform Western partners about the potential of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex and conduct a series of negotiations with American companies regarding cooperation in the production of weapons,” the statement said.
According to NAUDI Deputy Chairman Sergei Vysotsky, this proposal, among other things, will help get the political decisions that Ukraine needs.
“We must consider that the American military-industrial complex is a powerful lobbyist for its own interests on Capitol Hill. If Ukraine is the focus of their interest, we will be able to achieve the political decisions that our state needs,” he emphasized, adding that the uniqueness of this event will provide the possibility of multi-level dialogue with US representatives on support for Ukraine.
“It is important to understand how we can reach government officials in Washington and the political circles that make decisions there,” Vysotsky emphasized.
In addition to the defense conference, the summit will include a joint US-Ukrainian veterans’ conference and a charity golf tournament.
Let’s recall that in September last year it was reported that Ukraine was preparing to create, together with the United States, a new defense ecosystem for the production of weapons. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called the agreement with the United States on joint production of weapons historic.
In January 2024, Zelensky also said that Ukraine will make every effort to create a new arsenal of military production in Europe with its partners.
