The decree allows Russian companies and individuals to apply to Russian courts to declare property seizures ordered by courts or government agencies in the United States as unjustified.
Russian dictator Vladimir Putin authorized the confiscation of assets of the United States, American citizens, residents, companies operating primarily in the American market, and companies owned by them to pay compensation for confiscated Russian properties. Radio Liberty reports this in connection with Putin’s order.
“The decree allows Russian companies and individuals to apply to Russian courts with a request to recognize the seizure of property by decision of courts or government agencies in the United States as unjustified ,” the publication said.
It was noted that if a Russian court found the confiscation to be unjustified, a special government commission should offer assets related to the United States located in Russia for compensation.
Putin’s order reportedly authorizes the seizure of real estate, securities, shares in Russian companies, property rights owned by the United States or American residents and citizens in Russia.
It was previously reported that attacks on oil refineries are more damaging to Russia than Western sanctions.
