Russian troops used 29 kamikaze drones for an air attack on Ukraine on the night of May 21. The air defense forces and means of the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 28 enemy drones. This was announced by the Commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Nikolai Oleshchuk.
“On the night of May 21, 2024, the enemy attacked with 29 attack UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type from three directions: Primorsko-Akhtarsk, Kursk – Russian Federation, Cape Chauda – Crimea,” he said.
According to Oleshchuk, combat work to repel a night air attack was carried out on the territory of 7 regions, for this purpose mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force and Ground Forces, fighter aircraft, and electronic warfare units are involved.
As a result of the battle against the aircraft, 28 suicide bombers were shot down in the regions of Odessa, Nikolaev, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov, Cherkassy, Kherson and Kirovograd.
We remind you that on the night of May 20, Russian troops again carried out an attack against Ukraine. The air defense destroyed all 29 UAVs of the Shahed-131/136 type launched by the enemy.
It was also reported that the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed 34 armored fighting vehicles (AFV) and 42 artillery systems and other enemy equipment in one day.
