Key decisions by Western allies on military support for Ukraine are about a year late. President Vladimir Zelensky expressed harsh criticism of Western partners in an interview with the international agency Reuters.
Every decision we come to is about a year late,” he noted.
The head of state said the transfer of Patriot air defense systems, which Ukraine relies heavily on in war, was one big step forward, but two steps back.
Zelensky invited the allies to help shoot down Russian missiles over Ukrainian territory under certain circumstances.
He also said that the situation in the northeast of the country is now under control after Russian troops launched a new attack on the Kharkov region.
And in his evening address on May 20, Zelensky said that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, reported to him the situation at the front. The President noted the need for additional air defense systems, because the Russians are actively using guided bombs in the areas of the city of Chasov Yar, in the Pokrovsky direction and in the Liptsev area in the Kharkov region.
Let us recall that US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during a visit to Kyiv, said that Washington does not encourage or facilitate Ukraine’s attacks on Russia, but Ukraine itself must decide how to wage the war, because this is a defensive war.
