Slovakia’s head of government is now in hospital, and the suspect in the assassination attempt is being held by the police.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was the victim of an assassination attempt: he was shot several times with a gun on Wednesday, May 15. The moment of this incident was recorded on video. The corresponding recording subsequently appeared on the Internet.
In the footage, a man can be seen behind a fence extending his hand with a gun, then several shots are heard.
The head of the government of Slovakia is in the hospital, and the writer Juraj Chintula, who is suspected of the attack, is detained by law enforcement officers.
Let’s remember that on May 15, Robert Fico was shot after a government meeting in Gandlova. The attacker was detained at the scene. His motive is currently unknown.
It was later learned that Fico had been taken by helicopter to the Roosevelt Hospital in Banska Bystrica. He was taken on a stretcher to the intensive care unit. The officer is in serious condition.
