Ukraine and Luxembourg have begun bilateral negotiations to conclude an agreement on security cooperation and long-term support. The press service of the President’s Office reported this on Tuesday, May 14.
President Vladimir Zelensky and Luxembourg Prime Minister Luc Frieden agreed to start work on the document in a telephone conversation the previous day.
Today’s round of negotiations was conducted by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office, Igor Zhovkva.
“We are grateful to Luxembourg for its continued support and leadership, especially on issues such as co-chairmanship of the IT coalition, military aid, support for Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO our security agreement,” said Zhovkva.
The parties carefully worked through the text of the draft agreement, discussed the content of individual provisions and agreed on further steps. Based on the results of the first round, they noted significant progress towards signing the document.
As you know, Ukraine continues to sign security agreements with partners. Currently, bilateral security agreements have been signed with nine countries. Ukraine has also attracted Great Britain, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands and Finland to these agreements.
