China understands the “counterproductiveness and futility” of discussing the “Ukrainian issue” without Russia’s participation, Yuri Ushakov said.
China has apparently refused to participate in the international Peace Summit in Switzerland, where the conditions for ending the war in Ukraine will be discussed. This statement was made by Vladimir Putin’s assistant for international affairs, Yuri Ushakov, at a briefing on Tuesday, May 14.
“We appreciate the wise, balanced position of our Chinese partners on China’s non-participation in the international conference, organized in Switzerland, dedicated to the implementation of the Zelensky Peace Formula,” Ushakov said.
In his opinion, China thus emphasizes its understanding of the “counterproductiveness and futility of discussions on the Ukrainian issue without the participation of Russia.”
We remind you that the Peace Summit will be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland. The Ukrainian side expects that 80-100 countries of the world will participate in this event.
Russia was not invited to participate in the global Peace Summit, and China’s participation will be very important, the Office of the President said.
In this regard, Chinese leader Xi Jinping said he was in favor of the path of negotiations and would support a peace conference that would unite all parties and be recognized by Ukraine and Russia.
