The attack on the Kharkov region and the capture of several settlements was carried out by the newly formed Northern Group of the Russian Armed Forces. The city of Volchansk, located near the border, is almost certainly a direct target of the aggressor country and is now the subject of a battle between the occupiers and the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The UK Ministry of Defense reported this on the social network X.
Foreign intelligence is confident that the invading army is probably trying to divert Ukrainian resources from other parts of the front and threaten Kharkov.
It is unlikely that Russia has accumulated sufficient combat power to take the city without diverting additional forces to the area, the British believe.
Earlier, information appeared on social networks that a new sign was allegedly seen on the equipment of the Sever invasion forces of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kharkov direction – a rhombus with a cross.
Let us recall that the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, in an interview with The New York Times, said that “Russian attacks in the Kharkov region will continue for another three to four days, after which it is expected that Russian troops will launch an offensive in the direction of Sumy.” He called the situation in the Kharkov region “critical.”
