The Javelin anti-tank system received and purchased from the United States will contribute to the long-term strengthening of Lithuania’s combat capabilities.
The Lithuanian Armed Forces this week received a new batch of American-made Javelin medium-range anti-tank missile systems. This was reported by the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, European Pravda reports.
The Javelin batch will be transferred to Land Forces units as part of strengthening the capabilities of the Lithuanian armed forces.
The value of the received batch is about $16 million.
According to Lithuanian Minister of National Defense Laurynas Kasciunas, the United States is a strategic partner of Lithuania and one of the main security allies in the Baltic region.
“The Javelin anti-tank systems received and purchased from the United States will certainly contribute to the long-term strengthening of the combat and deterrence capabilities of the Lithuanian armed forces,” he said.
As you know, the United States is one of the main suppliers of military equipment to Lithuania in the field of defense equipment. In addition to the Javelin, Lithuania is buying JLTV armored all-terrain vehicles, Black Hawk helicopters, HIMARS rocket artillery systems, NASAMS air defense systems, Switchblade drones, etc.
We remind you that as part of uninterrupted military support, Lithuania transferred the M577 command and staff of the armored vehicle for the needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In the past, Lithuania transferred L-39ZA Albatross light attack aircraft to Ukraine. Such aircraft are mainly used for training fighter pilots.
