The corresponding order was signed by the head of the police department, Vladimir Artyukh, reports the press service of the Sumy police department.
We must protect our population. This is not a forced, but a premature voluntary evacuation from populated areas where the number of shellings has increased significantly,” Artyukh noted during a staff meeting.
Evacuation notices continue in communities.
Residents of Belopolye and Vorozhba, and especially families with children who want to evacuate, should contact the elders and chairmen of the communities. The evacuated population will be housed in densely populated areas in the region.
The OVA reminded that the evacuation of the population from border communities within a 5-kilometer zone from the border with the Russian Federation, which began in July 2023, continues in the region.
Residents of 115 border settlements in 15 communities in four districts of the region, which are under constant enemy fire, are subject to evacuation.
From January to April of this year, 40 residents were killed and 110 were wounded, including 13 children, in the Sumy region from enemy shelling and air strikes. Over the past week, three people were killed and seven were injured, three of them children.
