Romania doubts transfer of Patriot systems to Ukraine

Romanian Prime Minister Marcel Ciolaku said that Defense Minister Angel Tilver has serious doubts about Romania’s transfer of the Patriot defense system to Ukraine. This was reported by Digi24.

According to him, he has not yet discussed the issue of transferring the Patriot system with President Klaus Iohannis.

“There are three states with the Patriot system – Poland, Romania and Germany are known in our country, according to the Constitution, the highest commander of the army is President Klaus Iohannis. I have not yet had any communication with him,” Ciolaku noted.

He added that, in addition, the Minister of Defense “does not really want to hand over this system, one of those systems that need to be transferred to Ukraine.”

According to Ciolaku, the decision will be made together with the President of Romania.

As reported, according to media reports, Germany will be able to transfer the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine no earlier than the end of June.
