After a few hours, police decided to evacuate the area near the Malmö Arena, said law enforcement spokesman Rikard Lundqvist. He explained, the protesters prevented the spectators from entering the arena and also shouted insults at them.
“The goal is to maintain public order and safety,” Lundqvist added. Activist Greta Thunberg was among those escorted from the protest site.
It is not yet known whether Thunberg or other protesters will face charges.
