The United States has approved the immediate sale of three launchers for the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system to Ukraine worth approximately $30 million. This was stated in a message published on the website of the Pentagon Security Cooperation Agency.
It was noted that the government of Ukraine has requested to purchase three HIMARS missile systems. The estimated cost of the purchase is $30 million, which will be financed by the German authorities on behalf of Ukraine.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken noted that there is an emergency situation that requires the immediate sale of these systems to Ukraine, which will come from US Army stocks.
“This is a sale from a US Army depot. No compensation agreements proposed in connection with this potential sale have been disclosed. The proposed sale will not require the deployment of additional Government representatives or contractors. US in Ukraine,” the statement said.
The Pentagon Security Cooperation Agency also added that the sale “will not have a negative impact on US defense capabilities.”
Earlier, Germany announced that it would buy three HIMARS systems for Ukraine.
Also the previous day, the United States announced $400 million in military aid to Kyiv.
