The fast delivery times are due to the fact that some of the weapons are pre-positioned in Europe.
The Pentagon has already transferred some of the weapons from the new aid package to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and is making every effort to ensure that other weapons reach the front as quickly as possible. White House Advisor John Kirby said this on Friday, May 10, Ukrinform reports.
“Some of the first defense assistance packages – which we announced as part of the Supplemental Funding Act the same day the president signed it – some of these things have already reached the battlefield, into the hands of the military of Ukrainian,” the US administration official said.
He did not reveal what kind of weapons had already been sent to the Ukrainian military, but noted that the quick delivery times were due to the fact that some of the weapons had previously been deployed in Europe.
“The US Department of Defense is literally moving heaven and earth to do this as quickly as possible. And the work is still ongoing with the supplies that remained in the previous package,” Kirby said.
He added that the Pentagon is doing everything possible to quickly begin shipping weapons from the new $400 million package.
“It’s a pretty serious package. The variety of systems it contains alone is quite impressive – all of it will be useful to the Ukrainian forces as they try to repel Russian offensives in the Donbass, and now on the approach to Kharkov,” Kirby. said.
Let’s add that on April 24, US President Joe Biden signed a law allocating aid to Ukraine of approximately $61 billion. On the same day, the United States allocated a $1 billion arms package to Ukraine.
