Businessmen who tried to bribe one of the officers of the Main Investigation Department of the Security Service of Ukraine were detained in Kyiv. The attackers wanted the official to help them carry out a raider takeover of a mining company that owns one of the largest quarries in the Vinnytsia region. The SBU press center reported this on May 10.
It is noted that for this the investigator had to register criminal proceedings against the mining enterprise without reason. And after that, the raiders wanted, under the guise of witnesses, to take part in searches on the company’s territory in order to assess its technological capabilities. In the future, they hoped to take possession of the company’s property.
The intelligence service said that the SBU colonel immediately informed management about the bribery attempt. The intelligence service detained four raiders while attempting to transfer the first part of a bribe in one of the Kyiv restaurants.
They have already been informed of suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 369 (offer, promise or provision of an unlawful benefit to an official holding a responsible position, committed by prior conspiracy by a group of persons) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The perpetrators face up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property.
Let us remind you that in March two local deputies were detained in Sumy for 100 thousand dollars. tried to bribe the head of the city military administration. The elected representatives offered money to the official for the merger of two medical institutions.
