Viktor Gulevich was dismissed due to age. The self-proclaimed President of the Republic of Belarus appointed him to this post in 2021.
The formal leader of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, removed Viktor Gulevich from his position as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces due to his age. This was announced by the pro-government Telegram channel Pul First on Friday, May 10.
“According to Lukashenko’s order, Gulevich was removed from military service in the reserve due to the age of having the right to wear military uniforms and insignia,” the statement said.
Since February 2020, Gulevich has served as the commander of the Western Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Belarus.
In addition, on March 11, 2021, Lukashenko appointed him to the post of Chief of the General Staff of the First Deputy Minister of Defense.
As already written, Belarus updated its military doctrine and included in it the possibility of providing assistance to its allies. We are talking, in particular, about sending military personnel.
