Recruiters act through social networks and local recruiters, offering “high-paying jobs in Russia.”
Indian law enforcement officials have arrested four people who recruited mercenaries for the war against Ukraine. About that reported Indian Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
Recruiters are reportedly looking for potential mercenaries in several states.
They act through social networks and local recruiters, offering “high-paying jobs in Russia.” Recruiters promised young men help getting into private Russian universities, as well as free visa extensions.
Those who agreed to come to Russia were sent for military training, and then against their will – to the combat zone.
It was noted that those arrested worked as translators and helped future mercenaries obtain visas and book plane tickets. The main participant in the scheme turned out to be Indian citizen Nijil Joby Bensam from the state of Tamil Nadu.
Reuters wrote that in March, about 35 Indian citizens were tricked into joining Russia for further participation in the war against Ukraine. According to the publication, the families of two Indian citizens who died on the side of the Russian Federation said that their men wanted to work in the Russian army as “helpers.” And the Indian Foreign Ministry reported that each case was “warmly discussed” with Russia.
Let us remember that Russia recruited about 2,000 Nepalese to participate in the war against Ukraine. Many are trying to return.
