Cape Verde has confirmed that it will attend the Peace Summit in Switzerland. Thus, it became the first country on the African continent to agree to join this event. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced this on his Telegram channel.
The head of state said he spoke with the Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Ulysses Correia and Silva.
“I thanked him for his support for the peace formula and his personal principled position regarding the Russian invasion. Cape Verde is the first African country to confirm participation in the peace summit,” Zelensky added.
According to him, he discussed with the prime minister efforts to attract the largest number of African countries to the world summit.
The voice of Africa is important when it comes to international support for a just peace in Ukraine, the president said.
As you know, the peace summit will be held on June 15-16 in Switzerland. The Ukrainian side expects that 80-100 countries of the world will participate in this event. Russia was not invited to participate in the Global Peace Summit, and China’s participation will be very important, the Office of the President said.
