According to the UN, almost 15 million Ukrainians are in need of humanitarian assistance, the website of the Danish Foreign Ministry said.
The Danish government is allocating DKK 250 million, equivalent to EUR 33.5 million, for the urgent basic needs of the most vulnerable people in Ukraine. This was stated by the Danish Minister of International Development Dan Jorgensen, according to the website of the Danish Foreign Ministry.
“Women and children are particularly vulnerable. With this new support package, we aim to provide urgent humanitarian assistance and protection to the most vulnerable population groups, which can save their lives,” said official
The package provides basic aid in the form of food, medicine, water and housing to Ukrainians in the most war-affected areas.
The support package also helps prevent, mitigate and respond to specific risks faced by women and girls, especially the risk of sexual and gender-based violence, and promotes psychosocial support and maternal and child health.
More than two years after Russia’s all-out invasion of Ukraine, nearly 15 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance, according to the UN. This is almost 40% of the population of Ukraine.
As we have already written, in Denmark the government allocates at least 300 million kroner or about 43 million US dollars for Danish companies that invest and implement business projects in Ukraine.
