The Church must love sinners, even those who sometimes do evil. After all, the priests should teach and remind them, said the Metropolitan.
The Orthodox Church of Ukraine is not ready to bless same-sex marriages. This was said on Monday, May 6, by the Primate of the OCU, Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kiev and All Ukraine in an interview with Radio Liberty.
“We made the corresponding decision at the last local council of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine even though we have a declaration that clearly proves that we will not do it,” he said.
Referring to Pope Francis who said priests should be allowed to bless same-sex couples under certain circumstances, Epiphanius said it was a “very rhetorical” question.
“Sometimes the Pope will say, and then others will explain that he means something completely different. It is not a blessing. And we know that it is rejected by the Greek Catholic Church. They say no they support it and will not implement it, even if it is an appropriate decision because it is contrary to Christian teaching,” he said.
We remind you that Greece recently legalized same-sex marriage.
