The Russians want the Ukrainian to serve the first three years of his sentence in prison and the rest in a colony.
The Southern District Military Court in Russia’s Rostov-on-Don sentenced captive Ukrainian citizen Vladislav Plakhotnik to 18 years in a maximum security colony for serving in the Ukrainian Azov battalion. In Russia it is declared “terrorist”. Radio Liberty reported this on Saturday, May 4, in connection with its so-called project Caucasus.
“The court found Plakhotnik guilty of charges of participating in a terrorist organization and undergoing training to carry out terrorist activities. The Ukrainian must serve the first three years of his prison sentence,” the statement said.
The media said that the Southern District Military Court continues to consider the cases of captured Ukrainian citizens. Experts note that these tests in Russia are a violation of international law and part of Russia’s political strategy against Ukraine.
We remind you that the Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmitry Lubinets said that the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognized the Ukrainian Azov regiment as a so-called “terrorist organization” in order to remove the captured soldiers of the unit from the scope of the Third Geneva Convention and apply criminal prosecution to them.
