Ukrainian school seniors recently snapped a series of aggravating prom photos depicting their youth and expressed optimism about the horrific devastation of the war in their homeland.
Photographer Stanislav Senik told Reuters he wanted to document. A very important story “About 40 students graduate from schools in Chernigov, northern Ukraine, after witnessing horrific wars there.
“I saw the kids there and it was like surrealism,” Senik said.

One of the photos shows a group of students lying in a tank. The second involves a group of girls in a bombed-out building, while the others look down from the dilapidated floor.
Students described the experience as difficult, but important.
“We want to show that we live in such a reality,” 17-year-old Olha Babinett told Reuters. “We wanted to show our pain, which and never subsided. It was hard emotionally, but we tried to hold back. And I think we did it”.
