The Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the editorial office of DW, which creates content for DW Belarus, an “extremist formation” banned their activities on the territory of Belarus.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Belarus on Monday, April 29, declared the Belarusian edition of the German foreign broadcaster Deutsche Welle an “extremist formation” and thus banned access to the content of this media outlet in the country . DW editors reported it.
It was noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus called the editorial office of DW, which creates content for DW Belarus, an “extremist formation” that prohibited them from conducting their activities on the territory of this country. Moreover, any collaboration with a German media company in this country can be considered a criminal offense and punishable by many years in prison.
The reason for the ban is the organization of training and “making attacks on the sovereignty and public safety of the Republic of Belarus, discrediting and insulting officials.”
DW General Director Peter Limburg condemned the decision of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs and rejected the accusations of extremism, saying that the charges brought against them are inherently incompatible with the work done by the employees of the Belarusian editorial office of Deutsche Welle.
“The regime established in Belarus is afraid of independent media and is working hard to deprive its citizens of access to free information. They are afraid of people who take upon themselves the responsibility to independently form opinions about what is happening in their country, in Europe and in the world in general,” said Limburg.
We remind you that Belarus recently said that its special services allegedly prevented a drone attack on Minsk from Lithuania. Representatives of the Lithuanian army denied this information.
Earlier, the self-proclaimed President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko explained why Belarus does not fight against Ukraine. According to him, there are 120 thousand military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the section of the border with Belarus.
