After the war, at least 10% of citizens who left the country did not return to Ukraine, say sociologists.
Because of the war, the population of Ukraine could be reduced to 30 million people. Such a forecast was provided by the director of the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) Vladimir Paniotto in a commentary on RBC-Ukraine.
“According to our study of immigration plans in 2017, 7% were determined to go abroad and stay there. And in 2018-both, that is, it was a stable figure. But they did not have a opportunity to leave then. And now – “ideal conditions for those who have long wanted. Thus Ukraine will lose 7% or more of the population. But if conditions are more or less stable, people will come back fully, ”the expert believes.
According to the sociological group Rating, 10% of refugees will not return to Ukraine.
According to the UN, the number of refugees from Ukraine who have received temporary protection status in European countries has reached 3.407 million. Several million more citizens are abroad without refugee status.
And according to the European Union, since the start of the war, more than 5.7 million people have left Ukraine, of which more than 2.8 million Ukrainians have returned home.
