Iran-backed Houthi rebels say they shot down a US drone.
A US Air Force MQ-9 Reaper reconnaissance and attack drone worth up to 30 million crashed on the coast of Yemen on the morning of Friday, April 26. CBS News reported this.
The incident is being investigated by the United States. There were no initial casualties due to the drone crash.
However, Iran-backed Houthi rebels say they shot down the drone.
The TV channel recalls that since November last year, the Houthis shot down two more MQ-9 drones, both on the coast of Yemen. The first was in early November, and then another in February of this year.
In turn, Reuters reported that today, April 27, the Houthis attacked the Andromeda Star oil tanker in the Red Sea with missiles. The ship received minor damage.
Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea said the Panamanian-flagged tanker belonged to Great Britain. However, according to LSEG and Ambrey, it was recently sold. The current owner of the tanker is registered in Seychelles, the ship is engaged in trade related to Russia. According to Ambrey, it was traveling from Primorsk, Russia, to Vadinar, India.
Let’s remember that two days ago the United States intercepted an anti-ship missile and four Houthi drones. The missile was likely aimed at the US-flagged MV Yorktown.
