All of them were members of the so-called “election commission No. 826”, which the racists created in the Berislavsky district, the SBU press center reports.
The head of the pseudo-institution, who is now hiding from justice in the temporarily occupied part of the territory of Ukraine, has also been identified. According to the investigation, during her tenure in office she:
- organized an illegal referendum of the Russian Federation on the “annexation” of the region to Russia;
- attracted nine local residents, from whom she later formed the full composition of the “election commission”.
According to her instructions, her subordinates:
- massively campaigned their fellow villagers to support the fake plebiscite and “vote” in favor of the Kremlin;
directly on the day of the illegal “referendum” they made yard visits to private houses with “ballot boxes” and fake ballots. During such raids, they, accompanied by armed invaders, collected “votes for joining Russia.”
During the liberation of the region, the “chairman of the election commission” fled with the occupiers to the left bank of the Kherson region, and her subordinates remained on the right bank and “lay to the bottom” near the battle line, the SBU notes. “In this way, they hoped to avoid justice. But SBU officers located them and detained them.
The detainees were informed of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 111-1 of the Criminal Code (collaboration activities, participation in organizing and holding illegal referendums in temporarily occupied territory). The perpetrators are in custody and face up to 10 years in prison.
The former head of the occupation “electoral commission” was notified in absentia of suspicion under the same article of the Criminal Code.
Since she is hiding in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine, comprehensive measures are ongoing to bring the attacker to justice for crimes against our state, the SBU notes.
