In particular, the company included in the sanctions list is Sahara Thunder, which plays a key role in Iran’s design, development, production and sale of thousands of UAVs that the Russian Federation is receiving for use in the war against Ukraine .
The US government has announced sanctions against organizations and individuals involved in the production, sale and transportation of Iranian UAVs, including Russia. This was announced on Thursday, April 25, by the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury (OFAC).
“Today, OFAC is imposing sanctions against more than a dozen entities, individuals, and vessels that played a major role in facilitating and financing the clandestine sale of Iranian UAVs,” the statement said.
It was reported that the process took place under the control of Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Logistics (MODAFL), which was directly involved in supporting Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, as well as before the Russian war in Ukraine.
Sahara Thunder company and its management are included in the sanctions list. It was noted that the company provides commercial activities for MODAFL and plays a key role in the design, development, production and sale to Iran of thousands of UAVs received by Russia for use in the war against Ukraine.
In addition, OFAC has imposed sanctions against companies and vessels involved in the Iranian regime’s transportation of military equipment.
Let’s remember that last fall, the Republican leader in the US Senate, Mitch McConnell, said that China, Russia and Iran are a new “axis of evil” that the United States “must face”.
