The other day we worked as actively as possible with our American friends – at all levels, in order to quickly fill this package from the United States with exactly the weapons that our soldiers need. From ATACMS and artillery, from anti-tank weapons and missiles for HIMARS to the necessary air defense and equipment, he said.
Rakurs wrote that the United States secretly transferred ATACMS long-range missiles to Ukraine back in March. The Associated Press reports this with reference to American officials.
Ukraine has used the transferred missiles to strike Russian-controlled areas, most notably last week’s attack on a Russian military airfield in Crimea.
Back in the evening address on April 22, President Zelensky said that “all the dots have been completed in the agreements on ATACMS for Ukraine.”
Background
On April 24, the US Department of Defense announced the allocation of a package of military assistance to Ukraine totaling $1 billion. This is the first package since Congress passed additional funding to help foreign allies.
The new package of military assistance is the 56th that the US presidential administration allocates under the PDA program – it provides for the supply of military assistance directly from the US army.
