He emphasized that Washington has made it very clear to Beijing that it should not assist Russia in military operations in Ukraine.
“China cannot have it both ways. You want to have positive, friendly relations with European countries, while at the same time you are strengthening the biggest threat to European security since the end of the Cold War,” the head of the Department of the State. .
German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock echoed Blinken’s concerns.
“If China openly seeks a closer partnership with Russia, which is waging an illegal war against Ukraine, we will not accept that,” Baerbock said after meeting his G7 counterparts in Capri.
Bloomberg previously reported that China has increased its support for Russia. Beijing is said to provide Moscow with satellite imagery for military purposes, as well as microelectronics, machine tools for tanks, optics and fuel for missiles.
Beijing later denied this information, but the United States prepared sanctions against Chinese companies suspected of helping Russia in the war against Ukraine.
