Dmitry Kapranov, together with his twin brother Vitaly, are famous Ukrainian writers, publishers, publicists, public figures, and bloggers. Born on July 24, 1967 in Dubossary (former Moldavian SSR).
Their childhood was spent in Ochakov, Nikolaev region, where they graduated from high school in 1984. He received higher education at the Ural Polytechnic Institute (Sverdlovsk, Russian Federation) and the Moscow Energy Institute with a degree in Technical Cybernetics.
They joined the Ukrainian diaspora movement in Moscow – they published the Moscow Ukrainian newspaper “Tindy-Ryndy” and the Ukrainian fiction magazine “Brothers”. At the same time, they began to write their first book, “Kobzar 2000,” which they worked on for 10 years and completed in 1998 in Kyiv, returning to Ukraine.
In Ukraine, the Kapranovs decided to become publishers themselves, faced with the impossibility of publishing their book under the conditions of the then “book famine.”
Their first book project was in 1998 the catalog of books by mail, “Knigonosha”. In 1999, the Kapranovs, together with the 1+1 TV channel and Korona chocolate, organized the first competition of Ukrainian action-packed literature, Golden Babai. In 2000, they headed the Green Dog publishing house.
With the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Kapranov brothers fought the occupiers with weapons in their hands in Kyiv in the ranks of the Azov regiment.
