The Legal Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) approved amendments to the draft resolution, confirming that the Russian oil refining industry is a legitimate target for Ukraine. The relevant document must now be voted on. This is stated in the draft resolution, report hromadske after reading the document.
Revenues from oil exports remain the main source of the Russian state budget, committee members believe. In this regard, they added an amendment that Russian oil refineries and oil export facilities should be considered legitimate military targets for the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Representatives of the Ukrainian delegation said they plan to put the resolution to a vote on April 17.
Let’s recall that earlier Russian media reported that on April 12, four drones attacked the Novoshakhtinsky oil products plant in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation.
According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, Ukraine may comply with the request of its partners to stop attacks on Russian oil refineries, which worries Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, if the allies find an air defense system to in Ukraine.
