Serbia will sign the largest arms deal in its modern history with France, in signs that Russia’s war in Ukraine is prompting one of Moscow’s closest allies to diversify its arms purchases.

One of Moscow’s strongest allies in the Balkans has abandoned Russian fighter jets. Serbia plans to buy Rafale aircraft from a French company, the Financial Times reports.

Serbia is expected to sign the largest arms deal in its modern history with France, in a sign that Russia’s war in Ukraine is prompting one of Moscow’s closest allies to diversify its arms purchases.

Belgrade plans to order a dozen French Rafale fighter jets from Dassault Aviation for 3 billion euros, marking a long-term commitment to the West after decades of focusing on Russian aircraft.
