During negotiations with partners who can share air defense systems with Ukraine, various solutions are considered, the diplomat said.
Poland has the ability to occupy the western regions of Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems. Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba announced this on Sunday, April 14, during a telethon.
In particular, the diplomat was asked if the scenario of using the American air defense system in Poland to cover the skies over western Ukraine is likely.
“Now everything is true, in fact, it will protect NATO countries from the “arrival” of drones or missiles on their territory,” the minister answered.
According to Kuleba, all Patriot batteries depend on the US decision. He stressed that Ukraine “really knows where and what it is.”
“When we sit behind a closed door, I literally say to all my partners: my dears, whatever you want, you want to rent, let’s rent, if you want to cover your border, let’s cover your border , but give it,” Kuleba said.
A day before it became known that Germany will transfer to Ukraine an additional Patriot air defense system – the third since the beginning of a full-scale war. The information was confirmed by President Vladimir Zelensky after a conversation with Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Work also continues to receive from Germany additional IRIS-T systems and missiles to existing air defense systems.
