The weapon was seized from an organized criminal group that was buying amber. This was reported by the press service of the Rivne Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Last year, in the Sarny region, law enforcement officers exposed 4 members of an organized criminal group who were buying “solar” stones, sorting them into fractions and resell them at higher prices, the prosecutor’s office notes. — During the pre-trial investigation, grenade launchers and cartridges of 5.45 and 7.62 calibers were also seized from two defendants, one of whom was an employee of the State Emergency Service of Rivne region.
It is noted that this year the Dubrovitsky District Court convicted all members of the group. Besides:
- over 260 kg of amber were transferred to state ownership;
- weapons and ammunition – for the needs of military personnel of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
There are critical places in our country where this ammunition and cartridges are now vitally needed. And this is definitely not the composition of material evidence, emphasized the head of the Rivne regional prosecutor’s office, Andrei Rudnitsky.
