China proposes to “end” the war in Ukraine “through negotiations, not weapons”

It is better to end the war in Ukraine through negotiations, not weapons. This is what the Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN, Gen Shuang, said at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

“Continuing to provide weapons to the battlefield will only aggravate the risk of escalation of the crisis (as China calls the war in Ukraine – ed.) and will not contribute to cooling the situation and achieving a cease-fire to end the war to end the war through negotiations rather than weapons,” assured the official.

He called on all parties concerned to step up diplomatic efforts to end the fire and fighting and insisted that his country “has not provided any lethal weapons to either side.”

The Deputy Permanent Representative noted that they are in favor of the timely convening of an international conference, approved by Russia and Ukraine, with equal participation of all parties, to discuss all options for peace on an equal basis.

“We are ready to provide the necessary conditions for negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian sides and make tireless efforts for a quick political settlement of the crisis,” he added.

We remind you that the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced that Chinese government representative for Eurasian affairs Li Hui held “frank and friendly” negotiations with Ukrainian officials in Kyiv.
