Gota said that some of the supersonic ballistic missiles flying in the direction of the station were shot down, but due to the lack of missiles for the Ukrainian air defense system, some of the Russian missiles still reached their target and destroyed the thermal power plant.
Therefore, according to him, for the maintenance of Ukrainian energy, first of all it is important to ensure Ukrainian air defense.
“Everything can be returned. Last summer we had a similar picture, when these units were not repaired and in some stations did not work. That is, we can return everything. Of course, if no international partners it is almost impossible to do this, so we already have certain promises that will provide us with transformers, turbines, and other equipment from European countries, but again, without a sufficient number of missiles for air defense – this, to put it mildly, will be pointless,” he said. .
The Trypillya Thermal Power Plant provides light to nearly 3 million people and is the largest supplier of electricity in Kyiv, Zhytomyr and Cherkasy regions.
The fire at the Trypillya Thermal Power Plant was reported earlier after the Russian attack. The mayor of Ukrainka, a city located near the station, called on residents to close their windows tightly to avoid inhaling harmful combustion products.
