Flights to and from Tehran have been temporarily canceled due to security concerns. The situation will be reassessed on Thursday.
German airline Lufthansa has temporarily suspended all flights to and from the Iranian capital Tehran. This was reported on Wednesday, April 10, by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), citing the company’s press service.
“Lufthansa, after careful evaluation, has decided to suspend flights to and from Tehran until Thursday, April 11, 2024,” an airline spokesperson said.
He added that the situation would be reassessed on Thursday, but stressed that the safety of passengers and crew was Lufthansa’s priority.
Let’s remember that on April 1, the Iranian consulate was destroyed in the Syrian capital Damascus as a result of a powerful airstrike. The strike killed two Iranian generals and several diplomats. Iran’s President said Tehran’s response would be “tough.”
On April 3, the CIA warned that Iran could launch a military operation against Israel within 48 hours. However, this did not happen. US intelligence believes that the destruction of the Iranian consulate in Syria risks escalating into a major war in the region.
