Discussion continues with congressmen about the format of a future military aid package to Ukraine; there are many different ideas.
The Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, struggled to name a date for consideration of the aid bill to Ukraine. According to him, the discussion on this topic continues. Johnson said this at a press conference on Wednesday, April 10, after the House returned to work after a break, Voice of America wrote.
Reporters asked when exactly the speaker would bring the Ukrainian assistance bill to a vote in the House, but Johnson avoided answering directly.
“On the supplemental funding package, House members continue to actively discuss our options for moving forward. As you know, there are many different ideas on this topic. This is a very difficult issue in a very time. Time is running out, and everyone here feels its urgency. But “There needs to be a consensus on this issue. And that’s what we’re doing,” Johnson said.
We remind you that the previous Republican Congressman Michael McCaul, citing Johnson’s words, said that he would put a bill on aid to Ukraine to a vote after returning from the Easter holidays.
During the holidays, Johnson confirmed to the press that after the holidays he plans to introduce a bill on additional aid to Ukraine, which will include “some important changes.”
