From there, the 60-year-old defendant, who in 2020 became a deputy of the Bakhmut City Council from the banned OPZZH, tried to leave for a neighboring country as a person of non-conscription age. After the occupation of part of Donbass, he began to cooperate with the Russians and re-registered his own Internet provider company under Russian law. The press center of the Security Service of Ukraine reported this on Facebook on April 10.
This attacker gave the Russian FSB full access to existing equipment. This allowed enemies to control the Internet activity of the local population.
The deputy himself moved to territory controlled by Ukraine and managed the company remotely. He also ordered regular payments of funds to the Russian budget in the form of taxes and fees. Thus, he financed the Russian war against Ukraine.
Also, the “regionals” publicly justified Russia’s aggression, which they repeatedly talked about in chats on pro-Kremlin telegram channels. Subsequently, the attacker decided to flee abroad, but he was detained.
The deputy has already been informed of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces imprisonment.
The SBU did not name the detained politician. According to Ukrainian media, we are talking about former people’s deputy from the Party of Regions Vladislav Lukyanov.
Let us remind you that former deputies of the Odessa City Council from the banned party OPZZH stole more than 30 ships of the Ukrainian merchant fleet for a total amount of more than 80 million UAH.
