The Security Council’s press service noted that Patrushev’s trip was “planned” and scheduled even before Lithuania imposed transfer restrictions on the Kaliningrad region.
Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev on Tuesday, June 21, arrived on a working trip to the Kaliningrad region, where a meeting on national security in northwestern Russia is scheduled. This was reported by the Russian propaganda publication RIA Novosti.
It was reported that the meeting would take place against the backdrop of the situation associated with the embargo announced by Lithuania on transit from Russia’s main territory of a number of goods that fell under EU sanctions. At the same time, the press service of the Security Council noted that Patrushev’s trip was “planned” and scheduled even before Lithuania introduced travel restrictions in the Kaliningrad region.
Earlier it was reported that Lithuania intends to block the transit of almost half of the goods by rail to the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation.
The Russian Federation called the blockade of Kaliningrad “a shameless trick of Vilnius.”
