The SBU prevented a Russian airstrike on new lines of defense in the border Sumy region. To destroy Ukrainian fortified areas by fire, the aggressor planned to use guided bomb attacks. The enemy attack on the defense lines had to be corrected by an agent conducting additional reconnaissance near this facility. This was reported by the press center of the Security Service of Ukraine.
The detainee’s mobile phone was confiscated, from which he tried to send the aggressor a photo and geolocation of a potential target. The attacker turned out to be a former local functionary of the banned Party of Regions.
After the de-occupation of the Sumy region, the man was remotely recruited by a career FSB officer because he praised the Kremlin regime in one of the messengers.
Law enforcement officers informed the detainee of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 (high treason committed under martial law) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He faces life imprisonment.
Let us remind you that on March 27, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky visited the Sumy region, where he inspected the construction of fortifications in the region – he examined trenches, dugouts, firing and command and observation posts.
