Those who refuse to leave the city’s danger zone will be voluntarily evacuated by the police.
The mayor of Russian Orenburg, Sergei Salmin, on Saturday, April 6, appealed to residents of the city and surrounding areas with a request to immediately evacuate from flood areas. He wrote about it on his Telegram channel.
“Take this seriously. We have no time to persuade. Those who refuse to leave the danger zone voluntarily will be forcibly evacuated with the participation of the police,” Salmin wrote.
He noted that the water level in the Ural River reached 855 centimeters. According to him, the water will continue to rise and may reach a critical level at night. The Orenburg mayor’s office reported that the level of 930 centimeters is considered dangerous.
“I request that everyone immediately leave their houses in the flood,” concluded the mayor.
Let’s remember that according to official data, the population of Orenburg exceeds 530 thousand people. A significant part of the city is in a flood.
We remind you that on April 5, a protective embankment dam built in 2010 entered Orsk, Orenburg Region. This happened due to the rapid rise of the water level in the Ural River. And the next day in Orsk there was another breach in the embankment dam. Because of this, many more areas fall into the flood zone.
