A number of Z-publics told the story of the brave American warrior “Villa,” who “served in the US Army and fought in Afghanistan.”
In Ukraine, judging by social networks, he could already take part in the assault on Avdiivka, The Guardian reports.
Journalists identified “Will” as a former city council member of Holyoke, Massachusetts, named Wilmer Puello-Mota.
He fled the United States on January 7, two days before he was due to stand trial for possession of child pornography. He was also accused of forging documents. The American flew to Russia via Istanbul and hid in Khanty-Mansiysk, where he signed a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense.
Russian propaganda makes no mention of the American’s past, using his story for its own purposes, writing that he “served in the US military, but, realizing what was really happening in Ukraine, volunteered for war a few months ago.”
