The period of suspension is until the announcement of the verdict in his case or its closure.
This became known through the online broadcast of the meeting. Knyazev is accused of receiving a bribe in the amount of $2.7 million.
On February 6, the High Council of Justice suspended the ex-chairman of the Supreme Court, Vsevolod Knyazev, from his duties due to criminal prosecution until April 6.
Knyazev’s case
On May 15, 2023, the head of the Armed Forces was caught taking a bribe of almost $3 million. For this money, he had to make a decision in favor of businessman Konstantin Zhevago in the case of the Poltava mining and processing plant.
On May 16, the Court dismissed Knyazev, and he was subsequently arrested with an alternative bail of UAH 75 million. After that, the court reduced the bail seven times – the last time to 18.168 million. On January 31, 2024, this amount was paid and Knyazev was released from custody. The suspect was given certain obligations: not to leave Kyiv without permission from law enforcement officers and the court, to hand over his passport and travel documents, and to wear an electronic bracelet.
