Strong winds in the south of the country toppled trees, killing three adults and two children, rescuers said. Two women and a 6-year-old child died in the city of Rabka-Zdroj.
Additionally, a woman died when a tree fell on her car in the city of Zakopane. A child was killed when another tree fell in the same town.
The wind speed reached at least 100 km/h. Due to bad weather, the authorities closed the mountain routes in the Tatra National Park.
